Official memos pleading for him to move out
MONDAY, JULY 9 Boris. Having spoken to Cabinet Office, I must tell you a) you have no ministerial car as of now, b) you must not hold meetings of any kind at 1CG, c) you must do no media at 1CG, and d) you may stay there only as long as it takes to arrange to move your family elsewhere. I have said that, other conditions being fulfilled, that should be ‘a few days’ rather than ‘tomorrow’. But it is clear that they want this packing up period to be v.short, ie if not tomorrow, then Wednesday. Simon MONDAY, JULY 9
I agree. I am making the humane case. So let me know what’s practical in the course of tomorrow. Abiding by conditions b) and c) is essential. Simon
FRIDAY, JULY 13
Boris. On Monday we agreed you would arrange removal from 1CG by July 20 and that you would send me a plan in the course of Tuesday. Time is passing and I have still not seen a plan. So I’d be grateful for an update, please. We also need to recover some FCO kit from you (2 iPads, 1 phone) and return your passport and laptop. X (name withheld) can pop over to make the exchange. Can you let her know when suits? Best, Simon
THURSDAY, JULY 19
Boris, when we discussed your leaving 1CG I mentioned that a fortnight was a reasonable period for removal. You committed to giving me a plan. The fortnight is up tomorrow and I am yet to receive a plan. Can you tell me today, please, when you will be finally and completely out? Best, Simon
THURSDAY, JULY 19
Thank you. You will understand we are under great pressure to speed things up. I would like to be able to say that you will be completely and finally out by the middle of next week (25th, which will be 16 days after your resignation) and that your remaining occupancy will have a very low profile. Can you make arrangements to ensure that is done, please? Simon
