Fall udderly in love... on dating app for cows

A ‘DATING app’ for cows has been created to help farmers in the livestock breeding process.

Tudder – based on match-making app Tinder – features profiles of animals from 42,000 farms across the UK.

It is aimed at farmers who want to match up their bulls and cows to breed offspring for the future. As in the human version, users can view a potential match’s photo, age and location and then swipe right to show interest.

Tudder also contains details of a cow’s family history, calving ability and expected market value.

The company behind the app Hectare previously created the Sell My Livestock website that pitched itself as an eBay for farmers to buy and sell animals.

The app, described as ‘a bit of fun’, hopes to speed up an often complex cow breeding process. Yesterday listings on Tudder included pedigree Welsh Black cows at a farm in Conwy, north Wales, and heifers in Oxfordshire.

Hectare, which was founded by beef farmer Dan Luff and web developer Jamie McInnes seven years ago, has raised more than £2.8million to launch the livestock marketplace.
