Newsman with a dirty secret

A TV news host yesterday told viewers he had not washed his hands in a decade.

Pete Hegseth, who works for Fox News in the United States, said he did not believe in germs because he could not see them.

‘My 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air,’ said the 38-year-old former infantry officer, pictured. ‘I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for ten years.

‘Really, I don’t really wash my hands ever. I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them, therefore they’re not real.’

Co-host Jedediah Bila, 40, asked him: ‘So you’re becoming immune to all the bacteria?’ He replied: ‘Exactly, I can’t get sick.’

His comments were met with concern on social media last night.

Bradley Moss, a national security lawyer based in Washington, wrote: ‘I wonder if Pete Hegseth would be cool with restaurant workers preparing his food after deliberately not washing their hands?’
