PULISIC’S BLUES ARRIVAL TO BE DISRUPTED AS U.S. WANT HIM FOR GOLD CUP

- MATT BARLOW

THE start of Christian Pulisic’s Chelsea career is set to be disrupted because the USA are keen to take their £58million striker to the Gold Cup this summer. They want to pick their strongest squad, with Pulisic included, for the CONCACAF tournament from June 15 to July 7. If they progress in the competition, the 20-year-old would miss the start of Chelsea pre-season because of the recommended three weeks’ rest after a tournament. The Gold Cup is particularly important to the US this year as it will be the first opportunity for players to work at length under new manager Gregg Berhalter and restore pride after missing out on last year’s World Cup. Chelsea are heading to Japan in pre-season.
