DETECTIVES searching for missing student Libby Squire admitted for the first time yesterday she ‘may have come to some harm’.

The officer leading the investigation voiced his concerns as pictures of clothes similar to the ones she was wearing on the night she disappeared were released.

Miss Squire, 21, went missing after a night out in Hull two weeks ago. No trace of her has been found since.

Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley said: ‘While we do continue to be hopeful and will always keep an open mind, Libby has been missing for 14 days now and we sadly have to consider she may have come to some harm.

‘Over the last two weeks, our inquiries into Libby’s disappearance have continued around the clock with detectives and officers working night and day to find her and to understand what happened that night.’

Miss Squire was wearing a Topshop black denim skirt, a faux leather jacket and distinctive trainers when she was last seen.

Her mother Lisa Squire and friends helped police identify the outfit which detectives are using to try to track the second-year student’s movements on hundreds of hours of CCTV footage. So far police have searched properties, waterways Squire’s Mr Smalley gardens, home. and said a pond playing details near fields, of Miss the inquiry added: ‘More cannot work be revealed, is now taking but place behind the scenes rather than in public view.

‘However, this does not mean the investigation is slowing or coming to an end. It is exactly the opposite and is very much active and ongoing. We are determined and we will do all we can to find Libby – she is our priority.’ Mr Smalley added: ‘ While I understand everyone will have questions in relation to the inquiries and searches carried out, at this moment we cannot provide answers without jeopardising the investigation...’ A 24-year-old man is four still days under of questioning investigation over after Miss Squire’s alleged abduction. The philosophy undergraduate is known to have been near Haworth Street, about 300 yards from her student home in Hull, at 12.09am on Friday, February 1, after she was refused entry to a nightclub for being too drunk. A taxi dropped her near her house but she walked off to sit on a bench instead of going inside. Mr Smalley said: ‘We are continuing to support Libby’s family through this incredibly difficult and distressing time. ‘They are understandably distraught not knowing where their daughter is, and we will endeavour to give them the answers they desperately need.’
