Becker’s boy reveals debt to ‘tiger dad’ tennis star
TENNIS ace Boris Becker became the youngest men’s Grand Slam champion in tennis history, winning his first Wimbledon title aged 17.
Now the 51-year- old, who went on to claim the same title twice more, is proving to be the ultimate ‘tiger dad’.
Model, DJ and actor Elias, whose mother is Boris’s ex-wife, German-American fashion designer Barbara, has just been snapped up by Select Model Management — which helped turn screen hunk Jamie Dornan and M&S model David Gandy into global stars — shortly after moving to London from the U.S.
The 19-year-old, who is in his first year at Roehampton University studying film-making, reveals his father has moved him into his South-West London home and is at the helm of his nascent career.
‘He gives me advice and he gives me routines every day. He tells me what he did when he was my age and I just copy his schedule,’ Elias tells me. ‘So I wake up at 7am and I do 50 push-ups and then I go back to sleep for an hour.
‘Then I wake up and I do yoga for 30 minutes and then meditation with my dad and then we eat breakfast and we talk about our goals for that day. At night it’s a similar thing.’
Despite his hordes of female fans on social media, Boris’s blue-eyed 6ft progeny — who seeks dating advice from his dad — doesn’t have time for a relationship. ‘I don’t have a girlfriend because I don’t think it’s necessary. I’m too distracted right now. Maybe I’ll get a girlfriend in a year or two, who knows?’
And while many children of celebrities claim to begrudge their heritage, Elias is more sanguine.
‘My parents have opened a lot of doors in my life and I’m super happy that they have been there for me. My dad has always been a role model in my life.’
