Deal or No Deal
VINCE CABLE has said that another referendum is a way out of the Brexit impasse, which sounds reasonable.
however, when you look at what he proposes, the cynical political manoeuvring is exposed.
he says the questions should be: do you support May’s deal, no deal or remaining in the eu? This is designed to split the leave vote and gives a built-in advantage to Remain.
if we are to have a new referendum, we should start from where we are now. We have already voted leave, so the referendum question should be a simple choice: do you support May’s deal or no deal?
ALAN WRIGHT, Sunderland. The other 27 eu countries have clearly stated they will not renegotiate the Brexit terms that have been agreed and signed up to.
Our MPs have unequivocally demonstrated there is insufficient support for this deal to gain a majority vote. We either leave with the current agreement or without a deal. What a farce!
We are facing six months of futile wrangling resulting in the eu getting all it has been striving for: the UK fettered by eu rules in a customs union, without the right to seek trade deals with the rest of the world, and having no control over our borders.
The UK staying in the eu is increasingly becoming a possibility after the government was forced to hand over control to Parliament regarding Brexit.
My vote to leave progressively appears to have been a waste of time.
