Get set for a 30c scorcher

- Daily Mail Reporter

The washout bank holiday weekend may have been a let-down, but sunseekers in Britain can rejoice – as it’s set to be hotter than Ibiza this weekend.

The UK will bask in temperatures of up to 30C (86F) as summer finally arrives.

And those planning exotic trips away from Britain might be better off on home soil.

According to the Met Office, Barcelona and Ibiza will see highs of 24C (75F) on Sunday, while St Tropez is expected to reach 28C.

It comes after days of grey weather across the UK ruined bank holiday plans for many.

Grahame Madge, of the Met Office, said: ‘The indication is that we could see highs of 28C (82F) on Saturday.

‘The most likely candidate places for those would be places like Norwich, north london, those sorts of areas away from the coast.’

The mercury is expected to further rise to 29C (84F) and possibly 30C (86F) in the hottest areas of the UK on Sunday.

Before then less sunny conditions will linger, with chilly evenings possibly leading to frost in isolated areas of england. Western areas will wake to grey skies this morning that will eventually spread east, with brighter conditions in the North and east.

Tomorrow will see cloudy conditions and outbreaks of rain, predominantly in the North and West, with highs in the South of 22C (72F).

But a ‘fundamental change’ will unfold later on Friday. A shift in wind direction, coinciding with a period of high pressure, will lead to the spike in temperatures and humid conditions.

Sadly the heat is not expected to continue into next week, with cooler conditions and more unpredictable weather expected in most areas on Monday.
