THE first show in their eagerlyawaited comeback tour was marred by sound problems.

And now the Spice Girls are facing more calls for refunds after disappointed fans walked out of their second show in Cardiff on Monday night.

Despite promises to fix the technical difficulties that blighted their Dublin gig last Friday, some concert-goers were still unable to hear what the group were singing – and some even left early.

The 1990s pop sensations performed at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Monday evening, and while fans were unconcerned by the wet weather many claimed they could not hear the music properly. ‘The Spice Girls was so much fun however the sound was atrocious and you could not hear what they actually said! So disappointing when you pay so much for a once in a life time opportunity,’ one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another asked for a ‘refund please’ as the ‘sound was awful again’.

Alison Powell, who paid £70 for a ticket, told BBC Radio Wales that she had left the show 45 minutes early.

She said: ‘It was really, really disappointing. You couldn’t hear anything they were singing. The band drowned them out. You couldn’t hear the harmonies, you couldn’t hear the words.

‘When they started talking to each other, and there was a bit of banter on stage, you just couldn’t hear it.’

Mrs Powell said that the whole concert left her feeling ‘totally flat’ and she decided to leave ‘about three-quartersof-an-hour before the end.’

She added: ‘We weren’t the only ones leaving. People were saying they were also really disappointed.’

Mel B addressed the sound problems after the group’s first concert and promised fans that the issue would be resolved. In a video posted to her Instagram account she said: ‘We will see you in Cardiff and hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better.’

Despite the claims of poor sound quality, the show has won positive reviews, with fans praising the energetic routines, original stage design and outfits.

The Spice Girls play the first of three shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester tonight. They will also perform in Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol before the tour ends at London’s Wembley Stadium.

A source close to the group said they were confident the remaining shows would be trouble free.
