What are your rights if a flight is cancelled?

Travellers should be offered an alternative flight or, if that is not possible or suitable, a refund and, if necessary, accommodation, food and drink until the new departure time. If the airline is unable to do this, they can buy their own and claim the money back.

What about compensation?

Under EU rules, travellers who arrive more than three hours late after a journey of less than 1,500km (932 miles) are entitled to 250 euros (£2 0) each in compensation – on top of a refund – from the airline. The figure is up to 600 euros (£ 577) each on long-haul flights. These rules relate to flights originating in the EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland.
