what to do

TO BLITZ your muffin top, try an elbow plank with a twist, says celebrity personal trainer Nadya Fairweather ( u-shape.co.uk).

Start in a side plank with your top arm bent, hand at your temple. Make sure your body is in one straight line keeping feet, knees and hips all stacked on top of each other. If you are on your right side, rotate your left elbow down towards your right hand. Hold for a second or two, then return to starting position. Try for 10-12 reps. Then repeat on the left side. Breathe throughout and keep your movements slow and steady.

what to eat

FOR a trim tummy, nutritionist Shona Wilkinson ( shonawilkinson.com) recommends the following foods: Chocolate contains magnesium, which helps to balance blood sugar levels, poor levels of which can lead to a muffin top. But it has to be the right type of chocolate. Only dark chocolate marked at 75 per cent cocoa upwards will do the trick. Chillies contain capsaicin. Add them to your food as this boosts the metabolism, helping to burn fat faster and reduce stomach fat. Oatcakes are a great snack to have instead of biscuits. Eat plain or add cottage cheese or hummus for a delicious snack that won’t add all those calories.
