THE village of Glan Don totters on the edge of the Welsh coast — and the edge of reality. In a bid to save their marriage, Gareth and Diane have left London to run The Druid’s Rest, a damp, run-down pub with a weird clientele. They have been there for some time now, yet the place still delivers surprises. In the new series of the comedy drama CURIOUS UNDER THE STARS (RADIO 4, 10.45AM (FM), 7.45PM), a freak low tide reveals a sunken forest and a tree bearing forbidden fruit. THE hiss of overhead cars, under the flyover, is eerie. Elsewhere, trains rattle, and the singing and whooping of students, after a night out clubbing, echoes under bridges. It’s loud out on the streets but, for many of the homeless, these noises are the sound of

safety. HEARING HOMELESSNESS

(RADIO 4 (FM), 11AM) joins Hugh Huddy, who’s blind, as he meets some of the street sleepers and hears how they feel safer out in the noise than in a hostel.

NICHOLAS PARSONS returns for another series of JUST A MINUTE (RADIO 4 (FM), 6.30PM), the show that gets contestants all worked up as they try to speak on a given subject for one minute, without hesitation, deviation or repetition. Graham Norton (pictured), Zoe Lyons, Jenny Eclair and Paul Merton are on the panel this week.
