NEW SERIES Battle Of The Brass Bands, 8pm, Sky Arts WITH a smooth narration from Stephen Tompkinson, this charming new series takes a gentle stroll in the world of brass band competitio­ns. To start, it’s the Whit Friday contest, which dates back to 1870 and sees more than 100 bands vying for both pride and prize money. HISTORICAL DRAMA Knightfall, 9pm, History ‘I WANT them found and I want them dead,’ rages the King of France as the Templars make their escape in the second season finale. After the grinding misery of last week, this glint of hope is a welcome respite, and adding to that sliver of joy is a glimpse of the Obi-Wan-style sword master Talus (Mark Hamill). U.S. DRAMA Harrow, 9pm, Alibi POOR Simon, who idolised Harrow, is dead. He was always such a cheery presence and, to help to fill that gap, the Australian drama fleshes out the relationsh­ip between Harrow and his sparring partner, Dr Fairley (Ioan Gruffudd and Darren Gilshenan), as the two are paired on a case in what turns out to be Fairley’s home town. FRESH CASE Elementary, 9pm, Sky Witness THIS U.S. take on the Sherlock Holmes stories is rolling out some eye-catching cases in its final season. Tech tycoon Odin Reichenbac­h (James Frain) returns tonight, and brings an unsettling propositio­n: he wants Holmes and Watson (Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu) to fix a Minority Report-style computer that predicts future crimes. INGENIOUS IDEAS Revolution­s, 9pm, BBC4 THE story of today’s high-tech telescopes begins 6,000 years ago with ‘a pile of rocks in southern Europe’. It is thought that these rocks were arranged as chambers, which allowed Stone-Age people to adjust their eyes to the dark and focus on a certain part of the sky, and so be better able to predict the seasons and plan for the future. CHILD’S PLAY 100 Toddler Tantrums Caught On Camera, 9pm, 5 Star YOU would think that a show like this would be like nails down a chalkboard, but when the child having a tantrum isn’t your responsibi­lity, it’s remarkable how easily such clips transform into cute entertainm­ent.
