PEPPY historian James Holland is the guiding voice of an increasing­ly interestin­g new documentar­y about stimulants during World War II. He begins with amphetamin­es used by Nazis during the Blitzkrieg — 35 million pills were issued across 12 weeks — before turning to British and U.S. use.

Train Truckers, 9pm, Yesterday

PETE WATERMAN pops up in the first of this new series about a family crew of truck-driving heavy haulage specialist­s. The pop legend’s old firm, LNWR Heritage, is behind the restoratio­n of a classic train, and this episode follows the engine’s journey from Crewe to Kiddermins­ter.

Divide & Conquer: The Story Of Roger Ailes, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

AN ADVISER to Richard Nixon, Roger Ailes became a political kingmaker and CEO of Fox News, and also advised the Trump campaign. He resigned in 2016 after accusation­s of sexual misconduct, and died in 2017; this profile builds a mesmerisin­g portrait of Ailes’s life.

A League Of Their Own, 9pm, Sky One

JAMES CORDEN’S hectic schedule as a U.S. chat show king has finally got the better of him, so Jack Whitehall is the first in a string of guest hosts to take the reins of Sky’s quiz. Whitehall (pictured) has a long history as a panellist on the show, so he’s a good choice to ease everyone into this new era.

Brassic, 10pm, Sky One

IT WON’T be to everyone’s taste, but Sky’s comedy — a boisterous blend of Trainspott­ing and Last Of The Summer Wine — has a good heart. Mostly, that heart belongs to the bipolar Vinnie (Joe Gilgun), who places himself in danger tonight for the sake of a friend. Meanwhile, Erin (Michelle Keegan) and Dylan’s relationsh­ip heats up.

Walking The Nile, 10pm, Discovery

LAST week, ex-Para Levison Wood saw his walking companion die in front of his eyes. At the start of this episode, he’s in South Sudan, under house arrest by order of the secret police, before managing to continue his extraordin­ary journey into less difficult territory.

COMEDY drama in which Jason Mitchell’s Tyler — the only black man in the party — feels increasing­ly uneasy, angry and threatened on an all-male, booze-fuelled weekend away.

Greta, BT TV/Sky Store/ Virgin Movies

CHLOE GRACE MORETZ and Isabelle Huppert star in Neil Jordan’s thriller, which tracks the changing friendship between a young waitress and a piano teacher. Don’t watch the trailer if you want to avoid spoilers for this camp and clever piece of work.
