FIRST HOLIDAY MEMORY?
GOING to Brittany aged 10 with my family in the very early days of package holidays. I wasn’t mad keen on the snails or artichokes, and Dad tried to drive on the wrong side of the road.
MOST WELCOMING CRICKET NATION?
SRI LANKA. The country has experienced so many trials and tribulations — but the people themselves are always incredibly welcoming.
LEAST WELCOMING?
I’M NOT a huge fan of South Africa. I always feel a bit worried security-wise. I actually got mugged by a policeman last time I was there — he pulled us over and demanded money.
MOST MEMORABLE VISIT?
CRUISING on the old rice boats in Kerala, southern India, with my wife was amazing. We also did a tiger safari in India and got to see cubs —it doesn’t get much better than that.
FAVE FOREIGN CRICKETING CITY?
ADELAIDE. It has a beautiful, Lord’s-style ground. It’s also a fabulous city which I like for its peace and tranquillity, its river and beaches, and its ease of access to the Outback.
HOLIDAY FROM HELL?
I FLEW from Bangalore to Calcutta before getting a bus. Our plane hit a vulture — you heard screams coming from the cockpit.
LONG HAUL TRAVEL TIPS?
I ALWAYS take a multi-plug adaptor, my own cappuccino sachets and manuka honey to help keep my voice in tip-top condition.
DO YOU AVOID ALCOHOL ON FLIGHTS?
Oh no, you may as well enjoy yourself. Aggers is doing a theatre tour. see simonfielder.com/evenings-with-aggers.
