COLOURFUL CLOTHES

I LOVE dressing up. For me, the way you dress is a message to the outside world. I’m a bit edgy and I live in leather trousers, but I’ve definitely emphasised colour and prints as I’ve got older. Certain colours lift your complexion and it’s important to be mindful of that. We put colours on our faces, so why not our clothes? I love yellow, it’s like sunshine.

WRITE YOUR WORRIES AWAY

I’VE been writing down my worries before I go to bed for the past ten years. I’ve accepted that if you can’t change your situation, you have to change how you think about it. If I go to bed and my mind is racing, I’ll ask myself: ‘Is this going to worry me in ten years’ time?’ You’re not ignoring the worry; you’re parking it to get a good night’s sleep.

STRICT YET SIMPLE DIET

I HAVE irritable bowel syndrome and diverticular disease (a gastrointestinal condition), so must be mindful of foods that trigger it. I can’t have seeds or anything high in fibre. I hardly drink alcohol, but chocolate is a vice. A little bit of what you like doesn’t hurt you — I just have to learn not to be excessive.

CALMING CRYSTALS

I WAS always drawn to crystals. I started to look into them when I was going through my divorce. I’d carry a little pink crystal in my bra and put one under my pillow for love. Even if I don’t know why I’ve chosen one on a particular day, I’ll take it with me. I’ve got between six and ten now.

HAIR GROWTH CHEAT

I’VE always paid to have my hair and nails looked after. It is important to invest in self-care. My daughter grew up believing every woman had their hair blow-dried twice a week! I feel better if I have my hair done and I get it coloured every few months. I’ve started taking Viviscal (from £38.99, viviscal.co.uk) — a hair growth supplement. I’m only on my first month, but I think I have more baby hairs now.
