Tragic Jodie ‘screamed for two minutes straight’ after being stabbed

- By Josh White

Girl scout Jodie Chesney ‘screamed for two minutes straight’ after being stabbed in the back by drug dealers, her boyfriend told the Old Bailey yesterday.

Eddie Coyle, 18, said Jodie collapsed into his arms after the 17-year- old was attacked in a london park in March this year, following an alleged squabble over a petty cannabis deal.

Manuel Petrovic, 20, Svenson Ong-aKwie, 19, and two youths aged 16 and 17 are jointly accused of her murder.

The prosecution claim they all played a part in the killing, but 6ft 2in Ong-aKwie matched witness descriptions of the knifeman.

Giving evidence at the Old Bailey, Mr Coyle showed the jury how Ong-a-Kwie had allegedly swung his right hand at shoulder height. Fighting back tears, he recalled how Jodie, pictured, began screaming continuously, with blood flowing from the 7in wound in her back.

‘i was standing in front of Jodie, who had her back towards the side entrance sitting on the table,’ Mr Coyle told the court.

‘i saw two men walk towards us from the side entrance. i couldn’t really hear them, i saw them as they were walking along the path.’

He told of how a shorter male came through a gate, while the taller man ‘came right up behind Jodie’.

‘He [the shorter one] came right behind Jodie as well. The taller one swung his arm out and then stabbed Jodie in the back.

‘She was in shock at first. She started screaming continuously – about two minutes straight. After she stopped, she began to faint. The guys ran off, i did not really see where they went. i was trying to catch Jodie at the time she started falling. i managed to catch her and put her on the floor.’

Mr Coyle also explained how he was aware a drug deal fell through and his friends went to another supplier. He said: ‘i had seen her [the dealer] before. i did not go to the car that night, i stayed in the park.’

Asked what type of person Jodie was Mr Coyle said: ‘She was a great person very funny, silly, sensible sometimes.’

The students started dating after meeting at Havering Sixth Form College and had been in a relationship for three months when she was killed. They had met up after college on March 1 and went to Amy’s Park in East london to listen to music with friends.

Ong- a- Kwie, of romford, Croatian Manuel Petrovic, 20, of Collier row and the two youths, both also from east london, deny murder. The trial continues.
