7-4 TO GUNNERS IN MY TEAM

- CHRIS SUTTON

I HAVEN’T named Sokratis or David Luiz in my combined Manchester United/Arsenal team because I like my defence to stop goals, not gift them! There is never an exact science to selecting these combined sides. Sometimes, you have to shoehorn players in. So let’s go through my picks, from back to front. David De Gea beats Bernd Leno, because he is the better all-round goalkeeper. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire are two that United can celebrate this season. I believe Maguire will prove money well spent, but then I had to pick a partner to play alongside the £80million summer signing. Crikey. Who do I go for? Victor Lindelof? No. Sokratis? No. Luiz? No. Thank goodness Rob Holding is fit, because that means he gets my vote. To complete the back line, I’ve then gone for Kieran Tierney. The £25m man from Celtic is lacking in match fitness but of all the left backs available, he stands out. My midfield two is then made up of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, because they are better than anything United can offer in that area. I like the attacking side of Paul Pogba’s game, so I’ve moved him further forward at the centre of my three. On his right is Nicolas Pepe, and on his left is the creative Dani Ceballos. If Alexandre Lacazette wasn’t injured, he’d be in my team, for sure. If Marcus Rashford was fit, he might make it, too. Up front, though, I would always have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. MY COMBINED TEAM (4-2-3-1): David De Gea (Man Utd); Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Man Utd), Harry Maguire (Man Utd), Rob Holding (Arsenal), Kieran Tierney (Arsenal); Matteo Guendouzi (Arsenal), Lucas Torreira (Arsenal); Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal), Paul Pogba, (Man Utd), Dani Ceballos (Arsenal); Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal). SCORE PREDICTION – 1-2
