Boris’s blonde to give her first TV interview
THE Prime Minister is braced for a wave of embarrassing revelations today as his alleged mistress gives her first television interview about the scandal.
US entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri will face questions about whether she was given preferential treatment while allegedly having an affair with Boris Johnson when he was London’s mayor.
She will be interviewed on ITV’s Good Morning Britain by co-presenter Piers Morgan this morning.
It comes amid fresh claims that Mr Johnson personally endorsed her for a £100,000 government quango role.
Emails leaked to the Sunday Times describe how he backed Miss Arcuri, now 34, to become chief executive of the Tech City body just months after they met in 2012 when he was still mayor. He reportedly wrote a letter recommending her for the role even though she was only a business student at the time.
In June 2014, Miss Arcuri wrote: ‘I still have the letter of rec from Boris. Hahaha. To think that we asked him to write us a recommendation for the CEO of Tech City is just hysterical.’
Mr Johnson, 55, has repeatedly dodged questions about their relationship. He has also faced scrutiny over whether he misused public money by giving her preferential treatment, but claimed he acted with propriety. Miss Arcuri and her firms were awarded more than £126,000 of taxpayers’ money and she was given special access to three overseas trade missions.
No 10 and Miss Arcuri refused to comment yesterday.
