SHAPPI KHORSANDI (pictured) looks in control of things on-stage, but offstage her life is chaotic. Charity shop bargains pile up, surfaces are covered in clutter, and she has little idea what’s going in and out of her bank account. She’s tried decluttering as she hates the mess, but the chaos keeps creeping back. SHAPPI KHORSANDI GETS ORGANISED (RADIO 4, 11AM) follows the comedian’s valiant attempt to get some order back into her domestic life.

RESIDENTS of the Orkney Islands are working on a zero-carbon future, and massive wind turbines are just part of the plan. A large-scale grid battery is also being piloted — to store the energy from the islands’ strong winds and powerful tides — and a hydrogen-fuelled ferry

will be in operation by 2021. If these schemes work, as Tom Heap reports in this week’s COSTING THE EARTH (RADIO 4, 9PM), the Orkneys could lead the charge in the UK’s quest for clean power. BUNK BED (RADIO 4, 11.15PM) is a perfect bit of late-night comedy. Two men, Patrick Marber and Peter Curran, lie in the dark in bunk beds, saying whatever comes into their minds. We never know why they are confined in the dark, but we do know that their rambling conversations are mighty entertaining.
