Inflammatory poster
A BAPTIsT church’s wayside pulpit poster board shocked me. It read ‘Brexit’ in large capitals and was accompanied by a picture of a wooden cross. on the crossbar was ‘democracy’ and above it ‘rIP’.
This message can be taken in two ways. Does it mean Brexit is inherently undemocratic or that the farrago that has gone on in political and media circles since the referendum is undemocratic?
why does a church feel such an inflammatory poster is desirable when the political process is so finely balanced? Is it Christian to promote
dissent? The poster it replaced said: ‘Going to church does not make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.’ I say ‘Amen’ to that. GEOFF GARRETT, Dewsbury, W. Yorks.
