Track vs prattle

I GREATLY enjoyed watching the action at the world Athletics Championships in Doha.

I stress the word ‘action’ because the BBC’s coverage of this spectacular event was spoiled by a disproportionate amount of studio discussion.

Presenter Gabby Logan would say, ‘Now let’s go over to steve Backley to catch up on what’s been happening on the track’ because while we had been listening to studio guests prattling on, we had missed great chunks of the track and field events.

If we wanted endless studio discussions, we could tune into radio 5 Live. TV sports coverage should focus on live action.
