Sound of silence
THE BBC has made a tenminute podcast of The Archers without dialogue, just countryside sounds (Mail).
I hope it has made sure the podcast does not include the sound of a bus passing as they are certainly few and far between in the countryside.
Also, you shouldn’t be able to hear anyone using a mobile phone because it is unlikely there is a signal!
CHRIS PAGE, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. ‘WIND rustling through the trees’ and the ‘gentle braying of nearby cattle’ are among the sounds we are told by the BBC you can hear in its special dialogue-free podcast of The Archers.
Donkeys and politicians bray, but cattle low or, if you are a child, moo.
I can only conclude that the BBC has had to do away with the agricultural story editor. RAYMOND NORMAN, Hemingstone, Suffolk.
