Doc in dock at long last
THE delayed medical tribunal involving a doctor who allegedly ordered a banned substance for a Team Sky rider could finally begin this month. Dr Richard Freeman could face serious accusations, including that he ordered testosterone gel to be delivered to British Cycling’s HQ in 2011. Dr Freeman, who was at the centre of the ‘Jiffy bag controversy’, did not appear at a parliamentary hearing in 2017 on mental health grounds, and did not show up at last year’s employment tribunal as a witness for former GB cyclist Jess Varnish. He resigned as a GB team doctor in 2017. A Medical Practitioners Tribunal hearing has been set for Manchester from October 28.
