OLD TRAFFORD was last renovated in 2006 when second tiers were added to the north-west and north-east corners of the ground to increase capacity by 8,000 seats to 74,879. Here’s what their Premier League rivals have done with their grounds...

MANCHESTER CITY

In 2014, the City Football Academy campus was built next door to the Etihad Stadium. The following year, a 7,000-seat third tier was added to the South Stand, raising capacity to 55,097 from 2015-16.

LIVERPOOL

In 2016, 8,500 extra seats in the Main Stand took Anfield’s capacity to 54,074. This year the club has revealed plans to develop the Anfield Road Stand and increase capacity to more than 60,000.

ARSENAL

The Gunners moved into the 60,260-seater Emirates in 2006.

CHELSEA

Plans for a new 60,000 stadium on the site of Stamford Bridge site were announced in 2016, but put on hold last year because of the spiralling costs.

TOTTENHAM

Spurs moved into the new £1billion Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this year. It has a capacity of 62,062 and is widely regarded as one of the most advanced in the world.
