ARTIFICIAL intelligence killed the radio star. In MAKE ME A PROGRAMME (RADIO 4, 11AM), Georgia LewisAnderson anticipates a future in which AI could create a radio programme reflecting all your views, playing your favourite music and eliminating anything likely to give you the hump. All these items will be presented by an Alexa-type DJ, talking in an accent designed just for your ears. Is this a good idea?

FRANK TWIST (David Schofield) spends much of his working life trying to keep the good, the bad and the guilty out of jail, so he’s irked to find himself appearing in court as a witness for the prosecution in BRIEF LIVES (RADIO 4, 2.15PM). It’s another cracking episode of the legal drama.

AWARDS (7.30PM), the big annual celebration of folk, roots, traditional and acoustic music. From small beginnings, this event has grown into a major bash; it comes this year from Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, and features the duo O’Hooley & Tidow — with their rollicking theme tune from Gentleman Jack — as well as the traditional Irish band Dervish, the blues guitarist Wizz Jones, duo Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita and the roots, reggae and folk band Edward II.
