Queen’s speech mistakes
WITh draconian clean air legislation included in the Queen’s Speech, it would seem our inept politicians have caved in to the demands of the extinction Rebellion extremists.
It is madness to impose extra demands on this nation’s already exemplary environmental ambitions when the technology and infrastructure doesn’t exist to deliver zero emissions by 2025 or even 2050.
If we go it alone, we will be debtridden, while other nations continue to prosper. China, Russia, the U.S. and polluting developing countries will never comply with a zero-emissions policy and I suspect most members of the eU won’t, either.
I am behind cleaning up our planet by cutting pollution and developing sustainable energy sources. But let’s do it sensibly.
Name and address supplied. The Queen’s Speech should be recognised for helping make Britain great again, such as delivering Brexit and putting violent prisoners away for longer. What’s not to like about that, Jeremy Corbyn?
ASHLEY SMITH, March, Cambs. AS ChIeF executive of Anchor hanover, england’s largest not-forprofit provider of care and housing for older people, I was exasperated to see the Government once again pay lip service to social care while failing in the Queen’s Speech to meaningfully address the crisis.
JANE ASHCROFT, London WC1. NO PROTeCTION for our former service personnel mentioned in the Queen’s Speech. All the fine words from MPs are meaningless.
