Amateur snapper’s 40-year mission: Capturing the crazy world of dogs
They say that every dog has his day – and these photos prove that quite a few of those days are completely, er, barking.
hilarious and cute snaps of man’s best friend have been captured over 40 years by amateur photographer Chris Porsz, 66.
The paramedic started taking the quirky photos in 1978 and has since visited cities across the world.
he has strolled around dog shows, parks and beaches to come up with 200 top snaps for a book called Barking!
Mr Porsz’s photos show dogs in unusual poses – such as ‘driving’ a tractor or wearing curlers at the hairdresser’s – in cities including London, Paris and Budapest.
A stunning snap of a dog leaping through the air to catch a ball was taken in Union Square, New york.
Another amusing picture shows an english sheepdog sitting on its owner’s lap in Peterborough – giving the illusion of having human legs.
A dog looking hungrily at an advert board for £3.49 bangers and mash makes for another funny photo.
Mr Porsz, from Peterborough, said: ‘This book is my quirky take on our best friends and the great thing about taking their pictures is, unlike people, they never complain. I wanted to show dogs from all angles – warts and all – so I’ve tried to take pictures of them barking, growling, playing and even pooing.’
he began the hobby by looking around Peterborough for inspiration and quickly developed a passion for street photography.
Mr Porsz added: ‘I would often walk – and stalk – for miles and then get down to their level with a wide-angle lens, set to a fast shutter speed, fire away and hope.
‘Most of my pictures are candid, but I often find some of the best are when a dog sees me and reacts. I look for eye contact and sometimes even do a little bark or woof to encourage them.’
