Broccoli activist has Morgan steaming
A WISECRACKING vegan activist dressed as a giant broccoli floret had Piers Morgan all steamed up yesterday – after warning the planet is in ‘incredibly hot water’.
Mr Broccoli Head, who became an internet sensation after being arrested in the costume, was invited on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to talk about the climate change protests.
But he clashed with the show’s presenters, who seemed surprised to find he was not taking the issue entirely seriously.
He riled host Morgan by brushing off his line of questioning – instead quipping: ‘I’m just a humble broccoli.’ Morgan, who was referred to by the guest as ‘Peas’, branded him an ‘idiot’ who ‘did not know the facts’ surrounding veganism and the climate.
When asked to explain the scientific basis for backing plant-based diets, the protester – whose name is Roland – said: ‘I’m just a broccoli at the end of the day.’
At one stage he cut off the presenter to ‘take a call’, before pulling a banana from
his pocket and holding it to his ear. Quizzed on what he wants the Government to do about climate change, Mr Broccoli Head explained: ‘We are in extremely hot water environmentally-speaking. It’s going to go pear shaped.’
Co-host Susanna Reid was even led to ask the protester if he was a plant for the meat industry because of his refusal to answer questions seriously.
