Better control of stomach troubles
AFTER decades of painful stomach cramps, bloating and other tummy troubles, Maria Avraam was finally diagnosed with a gastrointestinal disorder 20 years ago, following hospital tests to rule out other causes.
‘I had suffered for years with stomach troubles and discomfort after eating and felt I always needed the loo.
‘ When the symptoms were worse, I had to take time off my work as a skincare consultant with a premium beauty brand, and as an independent beauty therapist.
‘My condition also stopped me from enjoying days out and meals at home or with friends. It was embarrassing and stressful.’
Maria, aged 63 and from Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire, says the over-the-counter treatment she was prescribed helped for a while, but then symptoms started to return. ‘I tried probiotics and many other remedies, which would all work for a while but then stop.’ Indigestion and acid reflux added to her tummy troubles, disturbing her sleep and making her tired.
By the time Maria discovered silicic acid gel in May this year, she was getting acid reflux every night and couldn’t lie down without feeling sick.
‘It was perfect timing. I was given a sample to try and took it three times a day.
‘ Right from the start it alleviated my symptoms. I could finally have a good night’s sleep.’ She adds: ‘I feel more comfortable with far less pain, bloating and cramps — and can go out without worrying about having to be near a loo.’
Users of silicic acid gel typically report relief from their symptoms, feeling in control of their life again and being able to exercise, take simple trips to the shops, and accept invitations to family events that would once have been impossible.
Silicic acid developed for daily use in a colloidal gel form can be purchased from Boots, Tesco and Holland & Barrett.
