At last, Khan condemns the chaos
SADIQ Khan has condemned Extinction Rebellion’s decision to target London’s Underground network only days after defending the group’s right to protest.
The London Mayor yesterday branded the decision to cause mayhem during the morning rush hour illegal and said the group’s disruption to commuters was ‘unacceptable’ and an ‘unfair burden’ on police officers. But his political opponents accused the senior Labour politician of having ‘lost control of the streets’ and issuing ‘contradicting statements’.
Tory London Assembly member Susan Hall said: ‘Having proudly declared himself an ally of Extinction Rebellion, he must now apologise for his catastrophic misjudgment.’ Earlier this week, Mr Khan criticised Scotland Yard for imposing a city-wide ban on the protests.
