TALES OF ROMANCE Modern Love, Amazon Prime

THIS life-affirming series of stand-alone, dramatised real-life tales deals in love of all kinds, and is the kind of show that’s likely to leave you with a tear in the eye. It’s based on a New York Times podcast of the same name, and the first story features a woman who comes to rely on her doorman. Other episodes feature Dev Patel (two), Anne Hathaway (three) and Tina Fey (four).

MURDER CASE Perception, 9pm, 5 USA

IT’S the penultimat­e part, and thoughts of grand romantic gestures start to bubble through the mind of Dr Pierce (Eric McCormack). Will he throw a spoke in Kate’s wedding? One thing’s for certain — her fiance, Donnie, has a real reason to dislike Pierce in this episode, which tracks a murder case on the campus.

FILM DRAMA The Laundromat, Netflix

STEVEN SODERBERGH’S playful, Big Short-style drama about the Panama Papers centres on a widow (Meryl Streep) who unearths a network of corruption. Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas are among the starry cast.

ROYAL RULER The Crown Prince Of Saudi Arabia, 9.05pm, PBS America

ON OCTOBER 2, 2018, the journalist Jamal Khashoggi walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. He never walked out. This chilling documentar­y looks into Jamal’s death, and hears from the Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman, who discusses the murder for the first time.

CLONE COMEDY Livingg With Yourself,, Netflix

WHAT if there were a way to get a better version of you to live your life — and what if they didn’t want to give it up? That’s the question at the core of this dark comedy, which doesn’t become the farce it could so easily have been. Paul Rudd stars as both versions of Miles, while Aisling Bea (pictured with Rudd) is on fine form as his wife.

GUITAR GREAT Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars, 9.30pm, BBC4

WHEN he was a young boy, Eric Clapton turned to music to ‘take the pain away’ of learning that his mother had rejected him at birth, and that the people he believed were his parents were actually his grandparen­ts. This compelling and personal film explores the ups and downs in his life.
