Murray serves up treat as he tucks into Cuevas

FOUR weeks into his gruelling singles comeback tour, Andy Murray shows no sign of stopping. The 32-year-old Scot made short work of world No 48 Pablo Cuevas last night to make the quarter-finals of the European Open in Antwerp with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. He now faces Romanian qualifier Marius Copil, ranked 92, in the last eight with the possibility of going even further. He has not made a semi-final since the 2017 French Open. This is the fourth consecutive week in which Murray has competed — having travelled to play three tournaments in China. It’s all part of an ambitious plan to see how far he has progressed on the long road back from a second hip operation. He admitted his elbow has been feeling sore as it gets used to propelling his old serving motion, yet he managed to send down 12 aces against the experienced Uruguayan. In a solid performance, he only dropped 12 points on serve as he broke to win the first set, then surged to a 5-2 lead in the second.
