WHAT TO WEAR THIS WEEKEND

PYJAMA STYLE SUITS

NIGHTWEAR FOR DAY

THeRe are many things wrong with 2019, but this trend isn’t one of them. Pyjama-style suits (they look like average PJs, but with a slightly tailored cut so they’re suitable daywear) are not just acceptable, they’re the height of fashion. In soft brushed cotton or sumptuous silk, with a loose fitting button-front shirt, and an elasticated waistband — joy! — they’re dreamy. Which is why I wear mine with heels to prevent me curling up and falling asleep at my desk.

YOU WON’T BE ALONE

PYJAMA-style suits have celebrity fans aplenty, including Kate Moss, Rihanna and Rosie HuntingtonWhiteley. Victoria Beckham’s been spotted in her own polka-dot cream pyjama set, which she describes as ‘perfect for the plane, the party and the bedroom’.

WHERE TO START

FANCY nightwear brands, including British label Olivia von Halle, started the trend, but a set suitable for indoors or out will set you back more than £400. Asceno make a fabulous silk pyjama shirt for £220. Still pricey, but fortunately the High Street has been quick to catch on — M&S now has a fabulous set from Per Una (below).

YOU CAN’T GO WRONG WITH A CLASSIC STRIPE

THe navy pinstripe pyjamas I’m wearing are from equipment at Fenwick. Thankfully, the stripes are subtle enough to stop me feeling silly. There are plenty of bold print sets out there, but you have to feel confident to wear them. Remember it doesn’t have to be worn as a set. Team the shirt with tailored trousers or the trousers with a crisp white shirt. And always heels. This trend is luxe, not lazy.
