Should Jo Swinson be in TV leaders’ debate?

-

LIBERAL Democrat leader Jo Swinson has complained to ITV that she should be allowed to take part in a live debate with Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. She has only a handful of MPs, including switchers from other parties, who are likely to lose their seats in the General Election. I don’t know why she thinks she should be allowed to take on the big parties when many see her party as an irrelevance.

JOHN BOWYER, Lincoln. IT IS unbelievable there will be a TV debate between Boris Johnson and

Jeremy Corbyn and yet the leader of the only Remain party, the Liberal Democrats, has not been asked to take part. What are they scared of? Is it that Jo Swinson is proving to be popular and her call to revoke Article 50 is gaining support? It might be fun to also invite the Brexit Party’s Nigel Farage. He could ‘phone a friend’ called Donald to help him answer questions.

WHY would anyone want Jo Swinson to take part in a TV election debate? As she seems to want to hand over the running of this country to the EU, it would be more useful for the European Commission President to take part. The Lib Dems fall well short of being a major political party.

M. LEATHER, Onchan, Isle of Man. WHY all the fuss about a TV election debate? I won’t watch it, as the antics in Parliament over the past few years prove that what most MPs say can’t be trusted. There’s no need for me to watch a TV debate in order to make up my mind that only Boris is promising Brexit.
