STRAIGHT TO THE POINT

-

I BELIEVE HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has overtaxed me. I have complained, but am getting nowhere. Is there an ombudsman I can contact?

J. C., by email.

IF YOU want to complain about the taxman, contact the adjudicators Office. You must have given HmRC two opportunities to look into your complaint first. Write to it at: The adjudicator’s Office, PO Box 10280, Nottingham NG2 9PF, or call 0300 057 1111. WHEN I visited the post office to buy some Premium Bonds, I was told that you can only order them online. I do not have a computer, so what can I do?

S. S., Suffolk.

PRemIUm Bonds have not been sold at post office branches since July 2015. However, you can still buy them over the phone, or ask for an order form to be sent to you by post. Call 08085 007 007. I SIGNED up to a Sainsbury’s energy tariff in July, which promised new customers 4,000 Nectar points. Five months have passed and I still haven’t received them.

B. B., Middlesex.

IT TURNS out you put your wife’s Nectar card details on the application form, so they were added to her account. It is a shame no one from Sainsbury’s told you this earlier, but you have now been awarded a further 3,000 points as a goodwill gesture. AFTER paying £110 for two pairs of trainers from JD Sports in September, a parcel arrived covered in tape. I removed it and realised the bag had already been opened, with a pair of trainers missing. JD Sports refused to refund me as it said a ‘correctly weighted parcel’ had been delivered.

S. B., Wembley.

JD SPORTS refused to explain what happened or to speculate as to who may have taken the shoes. But, following my intervention, it has now refunded you, along with a £15 voucher.
