THIS IS WHAT 52 LOOKS LIKE
Valentine FellOUs runs a beauty clinic, epilium & skin, in london. she lives with her husband alain. they have two children, salome, 23, and Benjamin, 21.
AGEING ‘AU NATURALE’
I GREW up in Paris and still have a beauty clinic there. French doctors are obsessed with looking natural. So, although I have Botox every six months (£400) to smooth fine lines, I avoid fillers, as I find that they look too fake, particularly in cheeks and lips. And, after a certain age, fillers can weigh down the face, making it droopy — a big giveaway that you’ve had something done. Instead, I had a facelift at 48: it cost £5,000, but will last ten to 15 years.
YOGA HOLIDAYS
I’M VERY conscious of future-proofing my body, so I can be as fit as possible when older. However, I can’t do too much running or weight training, due to a shoulder injury. Instead, I do a barre dance class and yin yoga session every week ( xtendbarre.com) to help strengthen my core. And, in October, I went to a four-day yoga festival in Siracusa, Sicily, with a good friend ( siracusayogafestival.com). We did four hours of yoga a day. It was amazing; I felt so relaxed.
THE BREAD DIET
I’VE been obsessed with French bread since I was a child. I can’t resist it! I have it every morning for breakfast, with butter and honey. At lunch or dinner, I usually eat a small slice with a meal of fish, vegetables or salad, or even pasta. The key is not to eat too much, and wholegrain if possible.
TWO-WEEK HAIR
MY LONG, dark hair is an important part of my identity. I will never let it go grey! So, I get it cut and coloured every four months (£280, giellygreen.
co.uk). Then, I get the roots touched up every two and a half weeks (£110).
FRENCH FASHION
I LOVE a sophisticated look, but also want to feel comfortable. So, I have a mix of designer and High Street clothes: for me, it is more about the fit than the brand. n epilium.co.uk
