DURING the World War I Christmas truce, soldiers from both sides sang Silent Night over the trenches. That’s one of the stories related by Worsley in this new history of carols, which also comes with performanc­es from the Kingdom and Hampton Court choirs. An early Christmas treat.

DARK NEW THRILLER Traces, 9pm, Alibi

THIS new, six-part crime drama, based on an idea by Val McDermid and written by Amelia Bullmore, has an unusual plot. It follows a lab assistant (Molly Windsor, pictured) who realises a ‘practice case’ is based on her mum’s unsolved death, and starts to pick at the scabs of her past. Continues tomorrow on Alibi at 9pm, then next Monday and Tuesday.
