SUPERSONIC! WAS THIS GOAL OF THE SEASON?

-

CHRIS SUTTON

Son Heung-min’S goal was Diego maradona a la ’86. Son just kept going, and going, and going. To have the legs to run that distance is one thing, to then apply the finish after all that lungbusting is another. This was goal of the season for me. it will certainly take some beating.

‘SONALDO’ as Jose mourinho called him, is a special player. i like to categorise goals differently — best header, best volley, et cetera. You will not see a better individual goal than the one Son scored against Burnley. in Tottenham’s difficult times, he has been their mr Consistent.

I LOVED Son’s solo effort. i haven’t seen a goal like that in a long time — it has to be right up there for goal of the season. There’s six months or so to go but Son has set the bar high. i admired the way he just ran past everyone for almost the full length of the pitch. it was very lionel messi-like and one i won’t forget in a hurry.

MARTIN KEOWN

Son will take some beating for goal of the season after his wonder goal against Burnley. it was a stunning example of pace and calm finishing — but i personally still prefer Thierry Henry’s solo strikes against Tottenham and liverpool in 2002 and 2004 when he slalomed through to score!

PETER CROUCH

i’ve always loved Son. He’s a game-changer, who has always had the ability to do something magical. i couldn’t stop watching replays after seeing what he did to Burnley — an absolutely glorious moment from one of the best in the league. Somebody is going to have to produce the strike of their lifetime to beat that.
