Mother, 25, stabbed to death ‘after trying to stop road rage fight’
A YOUNG mother was stabbed to death following a road rage incident, her friends said last night.
Levi Davis, 25, died half a mile from her home while apparently trying to break up a ‘stabby fight’.
Police said her death followed an altercation between the occupants of a Vauxhall van and a Volkswagen Polo in Rushden, Northamptonshire.
Miss Davis, a care worker with two young daughters, was thought to have been a passenger in the Polo.
A woman who knew her but did not want to be named said: ‘What I’ve been told is two lads were getting into a stabby fight.
‘She tried to get in the middle and she got stabbed. It’s awful that she died like this. I can’t say any more but everyone who knew her is absolutely gutted.’
Pattamaea Kuttppa, a 77-yearold retired aircraft engineer, said: ‘I heard a big thud. At first I thought it was a car accident.
‘Police were coming from all sides. They searched my garden looking for clues.’
Superintendent Dennis Murray of Northamptonshire Police said the men involved in the fight appeared to be known to each other. He added: ‘Those two cars had an altercation before they came to a stop. There was a crash when the vehicles came together.
‘My understanding was she was injured when she was outside the vehicle. We believe this is an isolated incident. Our officers are working to ensure that people are kept safe as I am sure people will be scared.
‘I do not believe at this time that this is a random attack but we remain open-minded.
‘My understanding from what we know so far is that everybody involved in this incident knew each other.’
A 27-year-old man arrested on suspicion of Miss Davis’s murder remained in hospital last night. He is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Another 27-year-old was being held on suspicion of the attempted murder of the alleged killer on Saturday night.
Mr Murray refused to be drawn on why the £500,000 detached home of a roofing contractor, aged in his 50s, was being searched, but confirmed it was linked to the investigation. Smears of blood could be seen on the doorframe yesterday.
A 13-year-old boy who was also initially arrested was released without charge on Sunday night and is no longer part of the investigation.
Another friend described Miss Davis as a ‘ one- in- a- million’ mother who had recently split up with her partner, Matthew Lewinton. The 25-year- old is understood to be the father of her daughters.
Miss Davis died before she could be taken to hospital. Writing on his Facebook page, Mr Lewinton posted a picture of a knife with the caption: ‘Only p****** carry knives.’
In a further post yesterday, he wrote: ‘To everyone, thank you all for messages and your kind words. Right now I haven’t got the time or energy to answer all of the calls and messages but I will reply to everyone in time.’
In an online post last month, he asked: ‘Does anyone else besides me feel like 2019 was a complete lesson in relationships, friends and family?’
