TSB bankers shown door

-

EMPLOYEES at TSB whose own bank accounts were affected by the lender’s IT meltdown have been sacked for allegedly gaming the compensation system.

The bank has re-examined compensation claims lodged by staff following the April 2018 crisis – when new technology was not tested properly and up to 1.9m customers were locked out of their accounts – for signs that they used inside information to get a big payout.

Formal proceedings were taken against eight staff who were accused of logging false or exaggerated claims. Five were sacked, the others resigned. TSB said: ‘A very small number of complaints were found to be dishonest and appropriate action was taken.’
