STEVE HARMISON Former England bowler and talkSPORT pundit

YESAROUND the world, crowd figures and viewing figures are dropping and the standard is not as high, possibly due to the influence of one-day batting and the techniques that produces. The longer format appears to have taken a hit in terms of the way the players play the game. That is reducing games to four days anyway, so I would not be fussed if we made it a four-day game. I will always back changes that are designed to make the game of cricket better and if the extra days were used to improve players’ preparations for matches then I am all for it. You see so many tours now on which the England team seems to be going into Test matches rusty and that stretches back to my time. It probably won’t happen but I would like to see more time going into the build-up to four and five match series, so that players have practised properly and are ready to give their best performance when the games begin.
