WAS THIS A FOUL?

-

MARK CLATTENBURG: YES

HOW Craig Pawson did not spot this was a foul is beyond me. Virgil van Dijk clearly fouls David De Gea. The whistle should have been blown well before the ball hit the back of the net from Roberto Firmino. VAR was used correctly but top referees should not need video technology for decisions like this.

ROY KEANE: NO

IT WAS a huge turning point. Why he’s disallowed this is beyond me. I can’t get my head around it. Van Dijk’s got his eyes on the ball. David de Gea’s done this before. There’s a softness to him. The game’s gone mad.

GRAEME SOUNESS: NO

HE’S never looked at the goalkeeper, he’s got his eyes on the ball. We’re talking about VAR as if it’s some super computer. It’s not. It’s human error and they don’t know what they’re doing. How much more honest could Van Dijk be in his challenge?
