FLEABAG PHOEBE’S PAINT-ON 6-PACK
Comedy star shows off her abs... and thanks her make-up artist
SHE’D just won yet another acting award, but the prize for best makeup went to... Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s impressive abs.
Wearing an Armani Prive outfit with mesh that showed off her midriff, the Fleabag star revealed that she’d had her six-pack painted on.
Miss Waller-Bridge, 34, told the audience at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night: ‘With all the chaos of the outfits, and the interviews and the six-pack that my make-up artist drew on me this evening and all the kinds of predrinks and after-parties, and all the amazing Hollywood-y things that happen here, it’s quite easy to be distracted.’
Accepting her statuette for best actress in a comedy series, a week after making a profanity-laden speech at the Critics’ Choice
Awards, she added: ‘I normally try and be spontaneous in my speeches but I don’t trust myself not to be bleeped out again so I have written it down.’
Make-up artists draw grids on the abdomen using dark and light flesh shades to create a sculpted look.
But the trend has been mocked online. Australian beauty vlogger Chloe Morello demonstrated body contouring and asked jokingly: ‘Why not spend the two hours you’d normally spend working out simply painting your bod to look like this?’ Miss Waller-Bridge was not the only British winner at the SAGs – The Crown was named best drama series, with Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Princess Margaret, and Erin Doherty, who plays Princess Anne, among cast members on hand to celebrate.
Renee Zellweger wore a stunning strapless dark blue gown as she accepted the best actress award for Judy while fellow 50-yearold Catherine Zeta- Jones displayed a wrinkle-free appearance as she supported husband Michael Douglas, 75, who was nominated for best actor in a comedy series for his role in The Kominsky Method.
