A BUSINESS OWNER EARNING £20K

-

Jennifer Bailey, 41, is CeO of shoe company callashoes.co.uk. She lives in Cheshire with her sales manager husband, Gary, 39, and their daughters, Charlotte, six, and emily, four. Her monthly income is around £1,400, while bills come to £2,000, which she splits with her husband. Here, she shares what she spends in a week . . .

MONDAY: £3.50

This was for a HIIT fitness class. I try to work out four or five times a week. TUESDAY: £23.35

£13.35 on a Tesco shop. I was in a rush, so I went to pick up lunch. I also spent £10 on a kickboxing class. I’ve been doing martial arts for more than 20 years.

WEDNESDAY: £88.79

£7.80 on a train to Manchester. I go to a co-working space a few times a week for networking and meetings. £60 on drinks and food with the other entrepreneurs — they are like my colleagues. £20.99 on toiletries in Boots.

THURSDAY: £32.95

£12.95 on a monthly Birchbox subscription. It may seem indulgent, but I love buying expensive cosmetics, so this actually curbs my habit. £20 for a month of Taekwondo lessons. I normally go twice a week.

FRIDAY: £16.69

£9.20 on a train to Manchester to meet my accountant. £7.49 on porridge and a salad from Pret A Manger because I didn’t have time to sort breakfast or lunch before I left home.

SATURDAY: £53.50

£3.50 on a HIIT fitness class in the morning. £50 on snacks in Lidl for a small party I threw for some friends and their children.

SUNDAY: £20

£20 on a chicken and some meat from the local farm shop. I made a Sunday roast and a big spaghetti bolognese to put in the freezer.

WEEKLY TOTAL: £238.78
