I’m like a lovable fungus – I’m sure I’d grow on him!

HOLLY, 29 VITAL STATISTICS

SINGLE, no children.

CURRENT ROLE

CIVIL servant.

WOULD LIKE TO MEET

A HOPELESS romantic who will treat me well — and who has a sarcastic sense of humour. They have to love dogs because I have two: a pug and a boisterous bulldog.

DATING PAST?

I’ve had three long-term partners and I enjoy being a girlfriend. I wouldn’t say I’m high-maintenance — when I’m with someone, I view them as my best friend.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

A few. I talk more when I’m nervous — there’s nothing worse than silence on a date.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

MArc is really good-looking. He’s tall, with a slim build and strong, chiselled features. when I arrived he gave me a hug.

EASY TO TALK TO?

He wAs very quiet and I had to keep the conversation going. Mind you, he’d only had four hours’ sleep after his night shift as a firefighter.

we’d both bought houses with our exes and talked about the stress of selling up when the relationships broke down. But I don’t think Marc will be able to tell you much about me because he didn’t ask me anything.

He was surprised I was able to eat so much at the restaurant and I explained I go to the gym regularly to balance out my healthy appetite. I said: ‘Girls do eat, Marc, it’s just that guys don’t realise it!’ He did laugh at that.

we were both booked on the same train home and we started peoplewatching at the station and laughing. It was easier to get him talking about other people than himself.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

On tHe train home to wakefield, Marc said he found it difficult to sit still for so long. I joked: ‘should I start a fire to keep you busy?’

I thought it was funny, but I don’t think he did.

DID SPARKS FLY?

I dId find Marc attractive and he’s a proper gent, but I suspect he’s still finalising things with his ex. He’s too serious and rather uptight to flirt with, anyway. A tough nut to crack!

DID YOU KISS?

On tHe cheek only, and he didn’t ask me for my number.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

As I say to my mum: ‘I’m a lovable fungus!’ He might not like me at first, but I’d grow on him. Marc seems quite private; I’m more out there.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE HIM?

If MArc is more outgoing when you get to know to him, then, yes, they would. He is an attractive guy with impeccable manners, but he needs to relax more.

HOLLY’S VERDICT: 8/10

LIKED: Everything. REGRETS: None. COFFEE OR CAB? Coffee.
