THE film-maker Sam Mendes recently released the brilliant 1917 and he also directed Skyfall, the best of the recent batch of Bonds. There’s plenty more to him, of course, and for this first of a new series, the Oscar-winner shares his love and knowledge of film.

THE Alaskan government offers a select few the chance to build cabins in the wilderness, and this new series follows four of them. STYLISH dystopian science fiction drama, set aboard a huge train that carries humanity’s modern-day ice age survivors. Chris Evans is the low-class passenger forcing his way up through the train’s hierarchic­al carriages. Also stars Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell and John Hurt.
