AS A baby, Danny was diagnosed with the rare Alfi’s syndrome, and doctors warned he might never walk or talk. Danny did both, but in 2017, an operation to alleviate another symptom of Alfi’s left him paralysed. This new film follows this funny, indomitabl­e 13-year-old as he tries to walk once more.

AFTER the pilot in 1980, this was tthe first regular eepisode of the holiday camp comedy, and tonight is the sstart of a weekday repeat. Look out for EastEnders’E Gillian Taylforth as a teenage girl whose romantic links to Jeffrey send Gladys (Ruth Madoc, pictured) into a spiral of jealousy, and may also look wildly inappropri­ate to 21st-century viewers.

ANSEL ELGORT plays the highschool­er who takes matters into his own hands after his friend is killed in what the police believe to be a gang-related shooting. PENCILS AT THE READY Life Drawing Live!, 8pm, BBC4 THE channel’s latest experiment with ‘slow TV’ is a life drawing class presented by Josie d’Arby. This is a more interactiv­e propositio­n than usual, though — a constant clear shot of the subject will be provided so people can draw along at home, and handy tips will be offered, too.

OUT IN THE COLD Life Below Zero, 9pm, DMAX

SUSAN AIKENS toils at Kavik River camp, a refuelling station 197 miles above the Arctic Circle, and does it all on her own. ‘It’s a challenge that keeps me going,’ says Susan in the opening episode, in which she cuts a formidable figure while stalking a bear. AFTER a winter break, autistic savant surgeon Dr Shaun Murphy (carefully played by Freddie Highmore) returns for a new run of episodes of this easy-towatch U.S. drama. As it begins, Shaun is still reeling from the death of his father and from the impact of growing close to Lea.

SEQUEL SERIES The L Word: Generation Q, 10pm, Sky Atlantic

AS THE U.S. lesbian drama returns after a tenyear gap, Jennifer Beals’s character, Bette Porter (pictured), is running to be the mayor of Los Angeles. Bette and her generation are a much calmer lot than they were in the racy original show, and it’s left to a new generation to pick up that side of things.
