The stylist who puts the Flo into flouncy
How Little Women star Pugh acquired her unique look
NO matter the result, Florence Pugh was already a winner at last night’s Oscars thanks to her wacky wardrobe.
The 24-year-old British nominee has turned heads during awards season with the help of her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
The Guernsey-born style guru, 7, has helped the newcomer receive praise for her style credentials as well as her Oscar-worthy performance in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.
‘Florence is very true to herself. She loves bold, colourful, interesting shapes,’ Miss Corbin-Murray told Vogue.
Miss Pugh was the talk of last week’s Baftas thanks to the fuchsia Dries Van Noten x Christian Lacroix gown she wore on the red carpet, which she then swapped for a ruffled green Givenchy dress for the after party at Annabel’s.
For Saturday’s pre-Oscars party, she wore a mustard Oscar de la Renta dress with an enormous bow on the front.
Clearly a fan of dramatic layers and draping fabrics, Miss Pugh stood out in a blue Valentino gown at the Little Women premiere in December.
But it’s Miss Corbin-Murray’s red carpet tricks that set her clients’ looks apart from the rest.
‘An arsenal of underpinnings and a fabulous tailor are two of my secret weapons,’ she said.
Miss Corbin-Murray makes her clients do ‘standing practice’ – preparation for being in front of a sea of photographers on the red carpet.
She also swears by the body-shaping lingerie Spanx because ‘it makes for better lines, which makes a dress look so much better’.
