Porto star walks over racism

-

PORTO’S Moussa Marega walked off the pitch after receiving disgusting racial abuse last night from fans of VITORIA GUIMARAES. Marega scored what proved to be the winner after an hour of the Primeira Liga fixture. The 28-year-old Mali forward’s goal had given Porto a 2-1 lead. several team-mates and coach sergio Conceicao tried to persuade him to stay on but he demanded to be substituted in the 69th minute. Clearly distraught, he walked off giving a double thumbs down to a section of the Vitoria fans who had abused him since the pre-match warm-up. ‘We are completely indignant,’ Conceicao said later. ‘They insulted Marega since the warm-up. We are all a family here, regardless of our nationality, skin colour, height or the colour of our hair and we all deserve respect. What happened here is outrageous. ‘I know the fans here are very passionate about their club and many fans are not represented by some of the people who were in the crowd today.’

Marega posted a message on Instagram calling the supporters who targeted him ‘idiots’, adding: ‘I’d also like to show my thanks to the referee who did not defend me and who gave me a yellow card for defending the colour of my skin. I hope I never meet you on a football pitch ever again. You are a disgrace.’ Ashley Young gave INTER

MILAN the lead at LAZIO but the ex-Manchester united man and his team suffered a 2-1 defeat in rome. Antonio Conte’s Inter team now trail serie A leaders Juventus by three points.
